As kids grow, so do their questions about God and faith. Too often, resources for big kids focus on telling them what to believe, but kids also need a way to share how they feel about it.
So this devotion is meant to help with that. It's for the skeptic, the doubter, the not-so-sure kind of kid. It's rooted in God's character, but designed to let a kid share, "I'm don't know if I think that's true." Because as adults, we want our kids to practice that and we want to be there with them as they do.
Each devotion will...
- Focus on one attribute of God
- Show what that looks or sounds like in one small part of the Bible.
- Provide journal space to respond to these two prompts:
- Honestly, God, here’s what I think of this...
- This feels… (circle one) completely true, sorta true, or not really true at all because…

FAQs
I'm a ministry leader. Can I give this to our families? I'd love that, but please purchase a church license first. This is for single family use only.
Why 18 entries? Many kids won't have interest in a daily devotion, and pre-teens are often just beginning this type of faith practice. So "Hey God, Can I Be Honest?" is 18 entries so that a kid can 2 or 3 each week, depending on their interest and the conversations that flow out of each devotion.
Won't asking kids to share doubts and uncertainty weaken their faith? Great question, but no. Faith formation research indicates that creating safe space for what kids wonder and doubt is helpful to them, and this devotional is written for just that goal.
